Dear Participant,

the Gran Sasso National Laboratories of the INFN, host of this Workshop, WELCOME you to TAUP2001. In this last bulletin you will find the last information about the workshop scientific program and logistics.

1. Scientific Program

The Workshop will have four and a half days of Sessions, mainly devoted to the following topics:

* Dark Matter
* Cosmology and Particle Physics 
* Neutrino Physics and Astrophysics
* High Energy Astrophysics and Cosmic Rays
* Gravitational Waves 

The Workshop will consist of invited Review Talks and of Discussion Sessions. Each day will cover, on a monographic basis, a major topic. The Morning Sessions will be devoted to invited talks reviewing the various aspects of the main topics. Discussions and Workshop Sessions will follow in the afternoons. 
The Workshop will start on Saturday, September 8 at 9.00am and will come to an end on Wednesday 12 at lunch time.

The following Workshop/Discussion Sessions have been scheduled:


Because of the large number of submitted contributions, the afternoon Workshop Sessions have been scheduled in Parallel Sessions.

The final Scientific Program, as well as a tentative time schedule for the contributed papers submitted to the Workshop Sessions, are enclosed in your folder. Due to the large number of speakers, the Organizers strongly request them to strictly respect the time limits for their talks (which include questions).

Any question concerning the Scientific Program and the Workshop Sessions may be addressed to the Scientific Secretary, as well as to the Conveners of the Sessions.

2. Transparencies on the web

The transparencies of the invited talks and contributions delivered during the Workshop will be scanned and put on the web site shortly after the conference end. In case you wish to present your talk using a multimedia projector, please refer to the Scientific Secretary.

A pay phone is available at close distance from the Conference room, and phone cards will be on sale at the Workshop Secretariat.

4. Conference Site

The Morning Sessions will take place in the main Conference Hall of the Gran Sasso Laboratory New Buildings. The Afternoon Sessions and Discussions will be held at the Conference Hall, at the Seminar Room which is nearby and at the Old Buildings Conference Room.
Coffee and lunches during the Workshop breaks will be served on the Mezzanine, ONLY to participants regularly registered. Please do not forget to wear your badge and to bring your lunch ticket which will be collected by one of our hostesses.

During the Workshop, access to computers will be widely available. 


5. Registration and Conference Fee

Participants are kindly requested to register, at their arrival, on Friday September 7, at the TAUP2001 Secretariat, which will be open from 3:00pm to 7:30pm. On Saturday, the Registration Desk will be open from 8:00am. On the other days the Secretariat will be open from 8.30a.m. to 7.00p.m.

The payment of the Workshop Fee (L. 550.000) upon arrival can be made in Italian Lire or in U.S. Dollars ($250). No personal cheques nor credit cards will be accepted.
On the same premises it will be possible to pay for transportation from and to Fiumicino airport/Termini railways station. 


6. Social Program

Saturday Sept. 8: Welcome Cocktail and Talk by prof. Pacini (Castello Cinquecentesco)
Monday Sept. 10: Public Conference of prof. Alessandro Bettini (Castello Cinquecentesco)
Tuesday Sept. 11: Conference Dinner* at 8.30pm (Casale Signorini)

*Tickets for accompanying persons can be purchased during the Workshop at the Workshop Secretariat, L.65000 or 30 U$ per person.


7. TAUP2001 Proceedings 

The TAUP2001 Proceedings will be published by Elsevier Publishing Company, as a special issue of Nuclear Physics B (Proc. Suppl.) Series.

The Workshop Proceedings will include the invited Review Lectures,the special invited contributions and the contributed papers presented at the Workshop Sessions. 

The Publisher will contact directly the lecturers and contributors to provide them with the typing instructions and kit for the camera-ready preparation of the manuscripts. The number of pages allocated to each lecture and talk will be proportional to the time with which they appear in the Scientific Program.

The deadline for sending the camera-ready manuscripts will be November 30, 2001, and they should be sent to the TAUP2001 Secretariat at the Gran Sasso Laboratories. The Publisher has scheduled the TAUP2001 Proceedings to appear early in 2002. Each registered participant will receive a copy of the Proceedings, as included in his Registration Fee.


8. Miscellaneous

8.1 Banks

Several bank branches are located in L'Aquila, while only one ATM is located in Assergi (Fonte Cerreto).

Banks in Italy are open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 1:30pm and from ~2:30pm to ~3:30pm (the afternoon schedule varies from bank to bank and it is advisable to check it before). 

8.2 Transport to the Conference site in the mornings

A bus will collect participants from each Hotel according to the timetable available at your hotel.

The same bus will return the Participants to the Hotel at the end of the Workshop Sessions. 

8.3 Program for accompanying persons

During the days of the Conference a social program for accompanying persons has been organised. Such program is inclusive of visits to monuments and excursions in order to discover the artistic and cultural treasures of L'Aquila and the charm of the city and its surroundings. If you wish to participate in the social program, please book your tour directly at the registration desk, not later than 3:00 p.m. of the day before the chosen tour. 

A coach will pick up the participants in their hotels for the visits and an English speaking guide will be at their disposal. 

The participation fee for each tour is of 70,000 Italian liras per person (or 35 US$) and includes transportation, guide and lunch.

Sunday September 9th, 2001
Natural itinerary: 

During the morning an excursion to the Grottoes of Stiffe will take place; these grottoes are extremely interesting from a speleological point of view and they are preserved by the homonymous medieval village.
Then Bominaco and the church of San Pellegrino, Fontecchio Medieval tower and monumental fountain will be visited.

Time of departure: about 9.30 a.m. (indicated in the hotel).

ROUTE: Grottoes of Stiffe, Bominaco, Fontecchio.

Lunch: 1:30 p.m., Restaurant San Francesco, Fontecchio

Return: about 5:30 p.m.

Monday September 10th, 2001
Historical and city itinerary:

Such itinerary offers a guided visit to the main churches and monuments of the city. From the bronze nudes of the "Fontana Luminosa" (Luminous fountain) to the crossing of the internal streets of the old town centre, the tour will reach the most interesting churches, from the Basil of S. Bernardino (XIV century.), considered one of the most important masterpieces in Italy during the late Renaissance, to the magnificent Basil of S. Maria of Collemaggio, where Pope Celestine V was crowned in 1294, going through the central square of the city (Piazza Duomo), where a frenzied small market takes place every day.
Further on the visit will move from the old town centre to the Rivera zone which hosts the monumental "Fontana delle 99 Cannelle" (Fountain of the 99 pipes), unique of its kind and heraldic badge of the city.

If you want to admire the historical and artistic patrimony of the city close up, it is preferable to go by foot from the starting point, but it will also be possible to use a shuttle bus when moving to different places.

Time of departure: 9.30 a.m. indicated in the hotel

ROUTE: Fontana Luminosa, Basil of S. Bernardino, Basil of S. Maria of Collemaggio, Piazza Duomo, Fontana delle 99 cannelle.

Lunch: 1:30 p.m. in a typical place

Afternoon: free for shopping

Return in the hotel at 4:00 p.m. 

Tuesday September 11th, 2001
Historical and cultural itinerary:

Castello Cinquecentesco: a Spanish Fortress situated in the middle of the city, transformed in one of the most important museum of the Abruzzo Region. Castelli: this village lies in the centre of the Valle Siciliana, in the south-eastern part of the Teramo province in the Abruzzo region. Castelli is very place of pottery. Recently has been established a "Pottery Museum", where is beginning to collect evidence of the baroque splendor of majolica works of artists such the Grue's, the Gentile's and the Cappelletti's. 

Time of departure: 9:30 a.m., indicated in the hotel

ROUTE: L'Aquila - Spanish Fort (Museum), Castelli (Teramo) visit to the Ceramics Museum and Market

Lunch: 1:30 p.m., Restaurant Castelli

Afternoon: free in Castelli 

Return: about 5:30 p.m.
